Basic Information
Real Club Valderrama is a championship course that is not at all easy. It was deliberately designed to provoke thought and precision for every shot.
The history of the Valderrama course is very interesting, so it is certainly worth mentioning. The course was designed in 1974 by Robert Trent Jones Sr, one of the great golf course architects, and was originally known as Las Aves (Sotogrande New). In 1984, Mr. Jaime Ortiz-Patiño acquired the golf course and undertook to raise the course to an extraordinary level never before seen in Europe. Robert Trent Jones readily agreed to redesign his original layout from ten years earlier. Valderrama has since risen in the Golf World rankings to become the No. 1 golf course in continental Europe, a position it has proudly held since 1989.
The course is open not only to club members but also to other players. However, strict attendance rules apply as there is a lot of interest in the game. Anyone can only play here twice a month or 7 times in a calendar year. Flights must always consist of four players. Children under the age of ten are not allowed in the restaurant and bar.
The course is often popular with golfers from all over the world and is undoubtedly one of the best courses in Europe.

Our rating
Valderrama Golf is one of the best golf courses not only in Spain but also in Europe. On arrival at the course, you will be met by the manager who will take care of you and explain and show you everything very helpfully. The fairways are narrow, but there is no need to worry about losing a lot of balls. The course is of fantastic quality, very technical and is a challenge and experience for all golfers to play. The club has a strict golf dress code and can only be played twice a month. Despite the high price tag, playing at Valderrama Golf is an unforgettable experience that should not be missing from any golfer's bucket list.
