Basic Information
Atalaya Golf Club consists of two 18-hole courses, Atalaya's Old Course and Atalaya's New Course, which can be categorized as more difficult courses. Both courses consist of gentle hilly terrain with plenty of tall trees and flowering shrubs, a large lake and a flowing stream. The wide fairways still require more precise play.
Atalaya hosts a number of professional tournaments each year for players of all levels.
Atalaya's Old Course
First opened in 1968, Atalaya's Old Course is one of the oldest courses on the Costa del Sol. It consists of wide fairways that undulate gently between mature trees and flowering shrubs, often topped by elevated greens.
The course offers spectacular views of La Concha Mountain on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other. The breathtaking view is complemented by a lake and streams populated by many species of waterfowl, including two resident pairs of swans.
Atalaya's New Course
The course opened in 1990 and is located in the hills above the Atalaya Old Course. Many of the fairways and greens have varying slopes and elevation changes, requiring careful shot selection and swing accuracy.
The course provides spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, the Mediterranean Sea and Gibraltar, and its location provides a tranquil setting in which to enjoy golf. Wildlife abounds throughout the course, including the lake on the picturesque 4th hole. Fairways are lined with abundant vegetation.

Our Review
The Atalaya Golf & Country Club has two 18-hole courses that we recommend playing. We rate The New course as more technical in terms of accuracy of shots. The course is located behind Marbella on the road to Estepona. With flowering shrubs, tall trees and lakes with swans and ducks, a stroll around the course is an oasis of calm, even when your morning doesn't go to your liking.
